Quectel, floLIVE and the IMC announce IoT Social Impact Award winner

Quectel Wireless Solutions, a global IoT solutions provider, floLIVE, a provider of IoT connectivity solutions and products, and The IoT M2M Council (IMC), the industry organization and events organizer, have announced that TT Electronics and ZapCarbon have been voted the winner of the IoT Social Impact Award. The Award recognizes IoT projects that combine not only innovation but also demonstrate significant social benefit. Open to all from solo developers and start-ups to large enterprises, the Award assessed IoT projects in public health, human rights, marine and wildlife conservation, environmental and corporate sustainability, education, clean and sustainable energy, hunger and food insecurity, social and economic development and improving accessibility.

Selected from a shortlist via a public vote, the work that TT Electronics and ZapCarbon have done to address fuel poverty via the innovative Healthy Homes Sensor has been chosen as the award winner. The solution aims to address the more than three million homes in the UK that live in fuel poverty by providing the sensors which provide real-time feedback on temperature and humidity conditions within the home. With 10,000 Healthy Home Sensors currently deployed in social housing residences in London, UK, the battery-operated sensor alerts residents and social housing associations or landlords to risks – and the data is analysed for unusual patterns.

In addition to providing the sensors, ZapCarbon supports end users with insight and expertise needed to lead behavior-change in managing humidity for health and reducing carbon impact. The IoT technology provides the data and, coupled with the knowledge and service provided by the company, real change and positive social impact is delivered with this solution.

“It has been rewarding and informative to participate in the IoT Social Impact Award,” said Alexander Bufalino, the CMO of Quectel. “We’ve seen a huge variety of projects across all geographies, industries and sectors that truly demonstrate the scope of IoT and its value as an enabler of benefits to society. The winner and collaboration between TT Electronics and ZapCarbon has been chosen by a public vote with voters no doubt recognising the impact the technology deployment has had on residents at properties where the Healthy Home Sensors were deployed. It’s great to see a deployment that delivers measurable benefits and improves the living standards of tens of thousands of people. Many congratulations to TT Electronics and ZapCarbon.”

As the winner of the IoT Social Impact Award, TT Electronics and ZapCarbon will receive 500 SIM cards with 1GB per SIM card a year from floLIVE and a free subscription to its floNET platform. In addition, The IMC will provide the winner with full coverage across all their marketing platforms reaching over 53,000 IoT professionals.
