Connected driving: Dareesoft uses Quectel modules for real-time road hazard information services
Dareesoft, the specialist provider of road hazard information services and road data for enabling connected driving in real time, has selected modules from Quectel Wireless Solutions to power its AI Road Analyzer (ARA) offerings. The company, which was established in the Republic of Korea in 2020 seeks to improve road safety by providing road hazard information services and data using its award-winning Roadhazard Information as a Service (RiaaS) system. RiaaS consists of an AI-powered road analyzer, the RiaaS cloud platform and the RiaaS monitoring dashboard. It is an end-to-end solution that addresses all aspects of improving the safety of connected driving, from hazard detection to a hazard monitoring service.
The Quectel SA800U has been selected by Dareesoft for use in its ARA-20 and ARA-30 solutions. Used as the main CPU module for the ARA-20, the Quectel SA800U is utilized for running dual camera AI. The Quectel EC25E LTE module is used to support LTE and GPS, also on the ARA-20. Finally the Quectel SG865W is used as the main CPU for the ARA-30 for running six-channel camera AI. The solutions are currently deployed in the Republic of Korea, Japan, Thailand and the USA.
The Quectel SA800U is a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module measuring 60.0mm x 37.0mm x 6.55mm and weighing 15g. The module features a built-in Android OS, based on Qualcomm’s octa-core 64-bit Kryo 385 processor, with built-in Adreno 630 GPU. This high-performance module supports various multimedia functions, making it ideal for both industrial and consumer applications which require high data rates.
We chose Quectel for the reliability and performance of its modules as well as the attractive pricing and stable production and supply capability that Quectel offers. Quectel stands out because of its reasonable prices, fast response from FAEs and the company’s ability to develop modules that meet market technology trends.

The Quectel EC25E is a series of LTE modules that measure 29.0mm x 32.0mm x 2.4mm and weight approximately 4.9g. The modules can provide data connectivity on LTE FDD and TDD, HSDPA, HSUPA and HSPA+, WDCMA, Edge and GPRS networks. In addition, the modules can support GNSS and voice functionality for customers’ specific applications.
The Quectel SG865W is a Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module supplied in an LGA package measuring 46.0mm x 42.0mm x 2.95mm. Based on Qualcomm’s QCS8250 flagship IoT chipset and with built-in octa-core high-performance Kryo 585 CPU, Adreno 650 GPU, Adreno 995 DPU, Adreno 665 VPU, Hexagon DSP, and Spectra 480 ISP, the module supports Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and 2 × 2 Wi-Fi MIMO technology. Featuring powerful performance and rich multimedia functions, it is ideal for both industrial and consumer applications requiring high computing power, AI and multimedia functions.
“Dareesoft has developed a plug and play road hazard analyzer which uses state of the art technology like IoT, AI, machine learning and hyperconnectivity,” said Betty Row, CEO, Dareesoft. “Dareesoft’s RiaaS is the one and only road hazard information service that detects 12 hazards, including potholes, road cracks, debris and poor road marking. It comes with a Road Analyzer that can be easily installed in vehicles and is equipped with a powerful AI model, wireless support and camera.”
The analyzer also includes features such as ADAS, dash cam, emergency call and driver drowsiness alert. By instantly detecting then transmitting the data to the cloud platform, RiaaS enables its users to easily view and analyze the road hazard data. “This solution potentially not only saves time, cost and manpower associated with road analysis and maintenance, but also prevents accidents and ensures a clean and safe environment,” adds Row. “By leveraging the power of IoT, AI, deep learning and hyperconnectivity, Dareesoft intends to provide road hazard information in real-time and, at the same time, innovate road and infrastructure digitalization.”
As automated driving moves closer to reality, the ability to combine advanced modules with antennas is helping to simplify and accelerate solution development of connected driving solutions. “We’re delighted to be supplying Dareesoft with modules and our GNSS antenna to support its RiaaS portfolio of solutions,” said Michael Wallon, the Senior Vice President of Sales for APAC & ANZ at Quectel Wireless Solutions. “We’re proud to be involved with an innovator in this field as it further develops its cutting-edge solutions that are helping to keep road users safe and build a smarter world.”
Dareesoft has been impressed with Quectel’s capabilities and is currently assessing its 5G portfolio. “We chose Quectel for the reliability and performance of its modules as well as the attractive pricing and stable production and supply capability that Quectel offers,” says Row. “Quectel stands out because of its reasonable price, fast response from FAEs and the company’s ability to develop modules that meet market technology trends. In addition to the modules, we currently utilize a Quectel GNSS antenna and we are discussing the supply and use of Quectel 5G modules and antennas in the future.”
