To pursue their dream of helping to build a smarter world, eight pioneering engineers set out to provide the global market with high-performance, high-quality cellular modules: so, on 25 October 2010, Quectel was born in Shanghai.

2020
- Quectel’s own factory commences production, with over 4 million units produced in November 2020 alone
- International Organization for Standardization recognizes Quectel’s data protection efforts with ISO27001 certificate
- New R&D center opens in Vancouver
2019
- New R&D center opens in Belgrade
- Quectel releases its first 5G modules, helping to open up vast new possibilities in the IoT’s development
- Joins 5GAA, helping to accelerate the connected automotive market
- Listed on Shanghai Stock Exchange (stock code: 603236.SS)
2018
- Quectel releases its first C-V2X modules, paving the way for smart driving, connected roads and autonomous vehicles
2017
- Another wave of modules is released to support LPWA, LTE-A and automotive, helping to lay the foundations for massive IoT
2016
- Joins GSMA, the international association dedicated to development and adoption of cellular technology
- Releases the BC95 NB-IoT module to conform to the 3GPP R.13 standard
- New offices open in the UK, Germany, Hungary and the USA
- Awarded Shanghai Famous Trademark in recognition of high quality products and reliability
2015
- Quectel’s first smart IoT module is developed in under one month
- Global footprint continues to expand with new offices in South Korea, Turkey and Israel
2014
- Offices open in North America, Brazil and Denmark, bringing worldwide office total to 13
- International Organization for Standardization awards Quectel ISO16949 approval, confirming quality requirements to supply the automotive industry
- Becomes an approved supplier to AT&T, among the world’s largest MNOs
- Wide range of new 2G, 3G, 4G and GNSS modules launched
2013
- R&D investment increases with expansion of Hefei lab and research center
- Global expansion continues with offices in France, Poland and China’s Taiwan
2012
- Quectel was named a High-Tech Enterprise, one of China’s most prestigious business awards
- Expands international presence with offices in Australia and Russia
- Joins Global Certification Forum, further demonstrating suitability for global markets through industry certification
- Further investment in overseas production with cooperative factory in Brazil to meet international demand
- International Organization for Standardization recognises Quectel’s commitment to industry standards with ISO9001:2008 approval
- The next wave of products is released with several HSPA/UMTS/GNSS modules hitting the market
2011
- First overseas offices open in India, Singapore and Latin America
- R&D center established in Hefei
2010
- Establishes comprehensive national distribution system and makes significant progress towards readiness on a global scale
- Quectel’s first GSM/GPRS module, the M10, begins mass production
