Teksun chooses Quectel SC600T to power POC system-on-module
Teksun Microsys, a highly experienced product design and development specialist in the field of IoT and artificial intelligence, has selected the Quectel SC600T for making a system-on-module (SOM) which will perform several proof-of-concept (POC) projects. Teksun, with its team of more than 300 engineers, offers systems integration and electronics manufacturing alongside its product design and development capabilities, maintaining meticulous end-to-end quality control across the entire product development lifecycle.
SC600T: an ideal choice for system-on-module
The SC600T is a series of new-generation multi-mode LTE Cat 6 smart IoT modules. With a form factor of 43.0mm × 44.0mm × 2.85mm, this high-performance module supports various multimedia features and offers Quick Charge 3.0 technology, which makes it ideal for both industrial and consumer applications that require high data rates. Multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology allows the SC600T to greatly minimize errors and improve data speeds. The module also combines high-speed wireless connectivity with embedded multi-constellation and a high-sensitivity GNSS (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo) receiver for positioning.
A wide range of supported interfaces allow the SC600T to serve a wide range of IoT applications including wearables, smart home gateways, point of sale (POS) terminals, routers, delivery lockers, data cards, automotive, smartphones, vending machines, law enforcement equipment, security, PDAs and entertainment systems.
The capability of Teksun’s system-on-module
Teksun was attracted to the Quectel SC600T because it can support three cameras and offers two LCD interfaces. The performance of the Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor was also an advantage for Teksun.
“We faced several challenges in this system-on-module and the ability to charge batteries using the internal battery charging circuit of SC600T has been an issue to address,” says Jignesh Rameshbhai Rane, the Program Manager at Teksun Microsys. “The customer benefits from SC600T in terms of having access to different interface protocols, two LCD interfaces, three cameras and an in-built class D amplifier having 1.5 output power @8 Ohm load. They also can take advantage of expandable memory storage and 4G LTE, GPS or Wi-Fi connectivity.”
“We chose Quectel for the product reliability and after sales support and also Quectel’s ability to offer technical support to developers,” he adds. “The product features of three camera and two LCD interfaces were important to us along with in-built LTE Cat-6, GPS and Wi-Fi availability. We also value the Snapdragon 625 processor which has wide usability plus the expandable memory and octa-core ARM Cortex-A5364-bit CPU.”
Using smart IoT to enable proof-of-concept projects
The SC600T is now being utilized to enable Teksun’s system-on-module and proving several concepts for developers. “We’re delighted our SC600T has been chosen by Teksun to power the system-on-module that enables developers to prove out their concepts and take their ideas into reality,” said Michael Wallon, Quectel Wireless Solutions. “Taking the wide applications of the Snapdragon 625 processor alongside the module’s comprehensive range of interfaces as well as the connectivity options it offers means the SC600T is an ideal module for proof-of-concept projects that form the foundation on which companies can build a smarter world.”
